The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe at The Alexander Theatre ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Extraordinary, Mesmerising and Emotive
“Step through the wardrobe and into the enchanted kingdom of Narnia. Join Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter as they wave goodbye to wartime Britain and embark on the most magical of adventures in a frozen, faraway land where they meet a Faun, talking Beavers, the noble king of Narnia, Aslan, and the coldest, most evil of all, White Witch.”

From the begining to the end this production of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe we were in awe of the talent on stage. The cast of the musical/play are all kinds of talent. They can act, sing, play instruments, dance and even use high wirers. The movement of the story of one single stage with the use of props and light is absolutly stunning. One of our favourite parts is how they transition from wartime Britain to Narnia through the wardrobe.

This is the view from our seats, Dress circle – A21/22. Enjoy
Whilst watching this play you will be taken on a wild ride of emotion with the use of music, dance and lets not forget spectacular acting. The set design was magical, the use of a ever changing back drop and transitions which just worked in every scene. There was intergrated lighting to set the mood for each location of the story and amazing use of props over the stage.

This show is a massive undertaking with a hugh cast and production crew to pull this off. The actors alone play their parts so well with every one of them adding to the story and pulling you into their world. On top of this you have the puppeteers who do stunning work with the control of the Aslan muppet, Schrodinger the cat and a beautiful robin. The show is perfect for adults and children alike, there are parts that are dark and scary, sad and emotional and funny and exciting. I would advise children to be ages 7 and above for this show.

Samatha Womack is our leading lady as the White Witch, Chris Jared as Aslan, Karise Yansen as Lucy, Robyn Sinclair as Susan, Ammar Duffus as Peter and Shaka Kalokoh as Edmund. All of the actors portray the characters just as we remember them, including all the additional characters of the story. The portayal of the animal characters were not at all cheesy or cringy. Our favourite was Michael Ahomka Lindsey as the Maugrim, stalking on stilts.
The first half was wonderfully paced and enticing but the second half felt rushed. We were expecting more from the war/fight scenes in Narnia and was expecting and waiting for that all mighty roar from Aslan, that unfortunately never happened.
To see this show you are looking at paying £50 for a ticket in the dress circle which has a spectacular view of the stage where you will get the best experience of this most spectacular show.

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe should definitely be at the top of your list for theatre productions to see this year. Booking links below.
